Villion Family Wines, located in the cool maritime region of Bot River along the Cape South Coast, is a boutique estate led by Kobie Viljoen. Focusing on sustainable, nature-friendly viticulture, the winery selects vineyards for limited yields, old vines, high altitudes, and proximity to the ocean. Their wines—including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Henning Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Solo White Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the signature Blanc de l’Atlantique blend—are handcrafted using minimal intervention, spontaneous fermentations, and careful maturation in French oak barrels.
The estate is driven by a deep sense of heritage and community: Kobie, nicknamed Villion to honor his Huguenot origins, is assisted by a rotating team of local women known as the “Pink Ladies,” who support cellar packaging and bottling—offering inclusive economic opportunities within Bot River.
Villion’s wines have earned international acclaim, with high scores from analysts like Tim Atkin (e.g., 95 points for the Henning Chenin Blanc 2020), and their Blanc de l’Atlantique and Syrah regularly receive stellar praise.
