Welcome to Tierhoek—an estate of remarkable beauty, diversity, and heritage. Nestled at 760–780 metres above sea level in the majestic Piekenierskloof Mountains on the edge of the Cederberg, Tierhoek flourishes under the unique influence of cold, rainy winters and long, warm summers, tempered by cooling afternoon breezes from the Atlantic Ocean.
Established in 1886, this historic Sandveld farm was lovingly restored by Tony and Shelley Sandell. Today, it is celebrated for producing world-class, terroir-driven wines including Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. With its exceptional elevation, diverse soils, and natural farming principles, Tierhoek is home to vineyards that yield fruit with remarkable depth and character.
Visitors can enjoy guided cellar tours and curated wine tastings, hosted in a beautifully restored 19th-century farmhouse or under the shaded verandah. The estate also offers comfortable farmstay accommodation, scenic hiking trails, and immersive experiences centred around the endemic Buchu and Rooibos plants—both highly prized for their quality and indigenous heritage.
