Pieter Ferreira Cap Classique is the eponymous boutique brand of South Africa’s undisputed “bubble maestro,” Pieter Ferreira. Having spent nearly four decades shaping the country’s sparkling wine landscape, Pieter’s name became inseparable from the rise of global recognition for Méthode Cap Classique (MCC). As the founding cellarmaster at the legendary House of Graham Beck from its maiden 1991 vintage until his formal retirement in 2026, his bubbles famously toasted history-making moments—including Nelson Mandela’s 1994 presidential inauguration and Barack Obama’s 2008 victory speech.
The signature standalone label, co-directed with his wife Ann Ferreira, is born out of a lifelong obsession with the pursuit of the “perfect bubble.” The portfolio leans explicitly toward a precision-focused, Extra Brut style, prioritizing structural tension, linear acidity, and crystalline purity. To achieve this, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit are masterfully sourced from distinctive, cool-climate terroirs: maritime-influenced Napier for fresh acidity, Darling for aromatic precision, and limestone-rich Robertson for signature textural salinity and mineral drive.
Operating out of Franschhoek, the family-run project embodies a philosophy of patient restraint, where select individual parcels undergo meticulous whole-bunch pressing and traditional bottle fermentation. With key vintages spending an extensive 55 months or more on the lees before disgorgement, the resulting boutique Cap Classiques offer unparalleled autolytic depth and exceptional age-worthiness. Today, Pieter Ferreira Cap Classique represents the pinnacle of artisanal South African sparkling craftsmanship, curated specifically for discerning collectors worldwide.
