Orange River Wine Cellars (ORC), established in 1965, is a major South African wine cooperative now operating as a private company, sourcing grapes from approximately 160 to 900 growers along the Orange River in the Northern Cape.
Using these diverse terroirs, ORC produces a wide selection of wines—from dry whites like Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc to reds like Pinotage, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and rich dessert wines, including Muscadel and Jerepigo. They’re well-known for their high-value, fruit-driven styles and export markets across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the USA.
Their tasting centre at Middelpos, Upington, offers casual wine tastings, pairings, and a deli platter from Die Kerkmuis Restaurant, with group bookings available. ORC also hosts cellar tours during harvest season and is wheelchair accessible.
