Môrelig Vineyards is a family-run wine farm nestled at the foot of the Paardeberg Mountains in the Swartland region of South Africa. Founded and operated by Andrew Wightman, the vineyard is known for its commitment to dryland farming, sustainability, and minimal intervention. The estate’s old bush vines grow in decomposed granite soils, creating low-yield, high-quality fruit that reflects the rugged character of the land.
Môrelig is home to a range of naturally crafted wines, including Chenin Blanc, Cinsault, Syrah, Clairette Blanche, and others—many from heritage vines that are unirrigated and organically farmed. The winemaking philosophy embraces native fermentation, no added enzymes or commercial yeasts, and little to no filtration, resulting in expressive, terroir-driven wines.
The vineyard is a key player in the new wave of South African natural winemakers, combining traditional methods with a bold, contemporary spirit that has earned acclaim both locally and internationally.
