Boschendal is a historic South African wine estate founded in 1685, nestled in a lush valley between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch at the foot of the Simonsberg and Drakenstein mountains.
Originally settled by French Huguenot refugees, the estate retains its early Cape Dutch architecture, including the elegant homestead built in 1812 and the original 1795 cellar.
Over the centuries, Boschendal evolved under the stewardship of families like the de Villiers and later Cecil Rhodes, encompassing mixed farming alongside pioneering fruit exports during the 19th century. Today, the estate spans over 2,200?ha of vineyards, orchards, fynbos, and trails, championing sustainability, regenerative agriculture, and conservation.
Guests can explore vineyard and cellar tours, enjoy tastings of premium wines—including Cap Classique, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz—dine at world-class restaurants like Werf and The Deli, picnic on manicured lawns, ride horses, cycle or walk scenic trails, and stay in luxury cottages and villas set amid historic farmsteads. Boschendal blends heritage, cuisine, wellness, nature, and hospitality into a complete Winelands experience
