Alvi’s Drift is a third-generation, family-owned estate nestled in the cooler Scherpenheuwel ward of the Breede River Valley, near Worcester. Named after a 1928 low-water bridge (“drift”) built by the Van der Merwe family, the vineyard spans over 410?ha and includes indigenous fynbos, orchards, dairy, and free-roaming game.
The winery balances modern and traditional winemaking—utilizing stainless steel, wooden barrels, and century-old concrete “kuipe”—to produce a diverse range of award-winning wines, from Signature Chenin Blanc and Pinotage to Cap Classique and dessert wines. They emphasize sustainability, fair employment for over 500 staff, and an artisanal approach anchored in terroir expression.
