SUMMARY:Bot River 3-in-1 wine tasting
DESCRIPTION:It’s not often that three of Bot River’s top producers are all here at once\, but we have secured them on Tuesday 18 May. Join us for a special evening of tasting where Luddite; Genevieve and Thorne and Daughters will be sharing their unique stories and telling us more about their wines. \nWe will start with Genevieve MCC which was inspired by their creator Melissa’s passion for good quality Méthode Cap Classique. She has pursued her passion in the winemaking industry to develop the beautiful Blanc de Blancs MCC we know today. \nThis will then be followed by Thorne and Daughters\, whose approach to winemaking is simple\, honest\, and gentle. John and Tasha Seccombe have drawn on the great history of wine growing here in the Cape and internationally\, putting together old vineyard parcels with new grape cultivars\, and making wines with old-school simplicity and a modern ‘edge’. \nAnd then Luddite will follow. Since they started in 1999 with the sole aim of making world-class Shiraz\, 8.5ha of vineyards and 480 olive trees have been planted. As the name states\, every effort is made to make wines with minimal interference and maximum integrity. The Luddite Shiraz has since been joined by a Chenin Blanc and the very successful Saboteur White & Red Blends. \nBooking for this event is essential. Click here to make a reservation inquiry. \nThe cost is R350 per person\, which includes light snacks on arrival. \nDetails\n\nDate: May 18\nTime: 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm\nCost: R280\nVenue:\n\nWine Menu\,\n3 Desmond\nKramerville\, Johannesburg\, Gauteng South Africa\n\n\nPhone: 0114405498\nWebsite: www.winemenu.co.za

SUMMARY:Semillon Session
DESCRIPTION:Please join Ex Animo Wine Co for an evening dedicated to Semillon. \n“Semillon was once extremely important in South Africa\, comprising over 90% of Cape vines in the early nineteenth century… Semillon’s importance declined during the twentieth century and by 2008 only 1\,153 ha remained\, the equivalent of 2% of the total white vineyard area”\n– Jancis Robinson\, Julia Harding\, José Vouillamoz\, Wine Grapes (Penguin\, 2012) \nModerated by David Clarke\, this 90-minute seminar will feature on the panel: \n\nJames Downes of SHANNON\,\nJohan Meyer of MOTHER ROCK WINES\,\nJohn Seccombe of THORNE & DAUGHTERS\,\nGottfried Mocke of BOEKENHOUTSKLOOF\, and\nTrizanne Barnard of TRIZANNE SIGNATURE WINES.\n\nWith the rise and rise of the international reputation of South African Chenin Blanc\, along with the excitement of new white varieties to South Africa such as Albarino and Assyrtiko\, and the upsurge in interest in incumbent varieties such as Grenache Blanc\, Colombard\, and Verdelho – is South African Semillon under threat? \nJoin us as we explore the subject of the recent history\, the present\, and potential future of this noble variety in South Africa. \nAn informal tasting of Semillons will follow the seminar. \nDetails:\n\nLocation: The Wine Library\, Culture Wine Bar\, 103 Bree St\, Cape Town\nDate & Time: 12 May 2021 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm\n\nPlease Note:\n\nSadly there are no refunds for cancellations.\nThere will be no reserved seating.\nDinner is not included.

SUMMARY:WineX – Online
DESCRIPTION:RMB WineX 2020 was always going to be a different experience… \nSince 2000 South Africa’s favourite wine show has always been about sampling the country’s finest wines\, engaging with our most talented producers\, discovering the wonderful stories behind the labels. And 2020 is no different… Except that this year it’s all happening in the comfort of your own home. \nRMB WineX has always been about innovation: it started life as the country’s first consumer-driven wine show. Every year since then it evolved\, setting new standards\, creating new ways for the country’s finest winemakers to engage with the ever-growing wine market in Gauteng. \nCOVID-19 has made it impossible for us all to gather under one roof. However\, out of this disruption\, traditional values have produced innovative ideas. Since you cannot come to RMB WineX\, the show will come to you. \nAny time from 9 November until the end of the year\, gather your friends and family for WINE IN YOUR OWN TIME.  You will be able to connect via the RMB WineX website to the Tasting Room for a three-minute clip\, succinct but timeless\, presented by each producer and designed to add a personal touch to your home tasting experience. \nSo invite your friends\, explore the 2020 Wineries List\, buy the wines and line up your glasses. \nRMB WineX 2020 WINE IN YOUR TIME. The 2020 Wine List will be online from 26 October. The Tasting Room opens on 9 November. Your own hand-picked crowd. Your own wine and dine time. Fun and Fascinating. Cheers!
