DESCRIPTION:It’s no April fools\, on the 1st of April 2023 twenty of our favourite producers are heading to the nonchalant coastal suburb of Noordhoek to shower your palates with over 80 wines from all over the Western Cape. \nSince its inception 7 years ago\, The Noordhoek Crush has\, rightly so\, developed quite the reputation for being the most laid-back yet spirited wine festival in the Cape. Each year Noordhoek Farm Village is invaded by some of South Africa’s best-loved winemakers and a trail of oenophile groupies. \nSip to your heart’s content on over 80 wines from 20 producers\, and line your stomach with some foodie delights from Noordhoek’s culinary heroes\, all while being serenaded by Newton & Co. Once you’ve finished tasting you can purchase all wines at the cellar door prices\, either to enjoy on the day (all village restaurants will be wavering corkage from wines bought from us) or stock up your cellar (just in time for the long winter) with the wines you crushed on. \nThe Festival will see a dedicated Food and Seating Area with 9 Market Style Food vendors plus Foodbarn\, Cafe Roux\, Village Sushi and The Toad opening their doors to their usual buzzing Saturday Trade. \nEntrance to The Noordhoek Village and to partake of the festivities surrounding The Noordhoek Crush will be free\, however\, should guests wish to taste and enjoy over 120 Wines they will need to purchase a Wine Tasting Passport which will include their very own Crush wine glass. \nLast year over R35 000 was generated for local charities at The Noordhoek Crush. DESCRIPTION:The Waiting is Over… WINEX 2022\nIt’s impossible to think back with any clarity about what we thought we were in for two years ago in March 2020 when the world shut down for this mysterious respiratory disease which began in China and swiftly spread across the whole Northern Hemisphere. We optimistically imagined that we might still be able to host WineX at its usual late October time slot that year. \nWe were no more explicit about how things stood at the beginning of 2021. Vaccination offered the prospect of a return to normal at some stage\, though the roll-out was slow and the Delta Variant-fuelled Third Wave hammered what was left of our optimism. Then Omicron arrived\, with it the discovery that we might be at the end of the pandemic stage\, and living with Covid as we live with flu – as an endemic disease. [Let’s hope so!] \nWe are optimists – you have to be\, living in the midst of power outages and lockdowns at the southernmost tip of the continent – so we are hoping that restrictions affecting the number of guests at an indoor function will very soon be eased. When that happens….then WineX\, South Africa’s longest-running\, most vibrant\, and most innovative wine event will be back in its usual end-of-October slot at the Sandton Convention Centre. \nLong the single biggest wine industry magnet\, serving to attract new consumers and transforming the Gauteng wine scene\, WineX is not a pop-up event: it requires months of planning\, a fully functioning Convention Centre\, permission to host at least 3000 people in a single indoor space\, certainties around travel and accommodation and over R2m in marketing spend to deliver an audience which justifies the scale and calibre of the show. \nAll but one of these requirements are in place. We believe that with high levels of vaccination\, new drugs to deal with Covid outbreaks and a compelling need to jump-start the economy\, 2022 will see WineX once again bringing us all together.
