Nestled in the cradle of South Africa’s oldest wine-producing region, Constantia Uitsig lies on historic slopes first cultivated under Simon van der?Stel’s grant in 1685. After being revitalised by David and Marlene McCay in 1988, replanting kicked off in 1990, transforming a neglected property into a modern boutique estate that honours its rich heritage.
Spanning about 32 hectares, the estate grows classic varietals suited to Constantia’s cool maritime climate—Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyards benefit from sloping terrain, gentle sea breezes, and fertile soils, yielding elegant, terroir-driven wines.
Winemaking at Uitsig embraces a “vineyard-first” philosophy: minimal intervention, site-specific viticulture, and meticulous composting, cover-cropping, and pest control. The result is a refined lineup of white and red Bordeaux-style blends, each reflecting the balance and complexity typical of the Constantia Valley.
