Crystallum Wines is a highly esteemed boutique winery based in South Africa’s Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, celebrated for its expressive, site-specific Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Founded in 2007, the winery has become a benchmark for cool-climate winemaking, known for its precision, elegance, and commitment to minimal intervention.
The estate is family-run and privately owned by brothers Peter-Allan and Andrew Finlayson, third-generation winemakers and sons of the pioneer who first introduced Pinot Noir to the Hemel-en-Aarde region. Though their backgrounds lie in philosophy, economics, and architecture, both brothers were ultimately drawn back to their roots—Andrew to the vineyards, and Peter-Allan to the cellar.
Crystallum began with just over 4,000 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc but quickly shifted focus. From 2008 onward, the winery has specialised exclusively in Burgundian varieties. Today, its range includes both single-vineyard expressions and meticulously blended wines that reflect the distinctive character of each site. Traditional Burgundian techniques and a philosophy of minimal intervention guide every bottle, resulting in wines of purity, finesse, and depth.
