Lomond Wine Estate is located on the Agulhas Plain, near the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas—the point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Just 8?km from the coastal fishing village of Gansbaai and within sight of the sea, the estate enjoys a distinctive maritime climate that plays a vital role in the quality of its wines.
All vineyards are planted on previously cultivated land, carefully selected for their exposure to cooling sea breezes. These oceanic winds moderate the temperature throughout the growing season, allowing for slower ripening and the development of intensely flavoured, well-balanced fruit.
Set against the slopes of Ben Lomond Mountain in the Uilenkraal Valley, the estate boasts an extraordinary variety of 18 naturally occurring soil types, found in small pockets across the terrain. This diversity gives rise to wines with exceptional complexity and clearly defined character, where each vineyard block contributes its own unique expression.
Lomond is proudly part of the Cape Agulhas appellation—one of the world’s most exciting cool-climate wine regions. It is this rare combination of geography, geology, and climate that makes Lomond a place of passion, precision, and world-class winemaking.
